in
Local Business

Sadly, in 1981, the theater had its last curtain call and the doors of the Beacon were closed indefinitely. But in 1987, with the establishment of Hopewell Preservation, Inc., a grassroots campaign was initiated to restore, revive and reopen the historic Beacon Theatre. Just like the show, the history of the Beacon Theatre must go on. Having completed two phases of a three-phase restoration project, the Beacon Theatre is newly ...

Street Rock (2007/4/2)
in
Local Business
Street Rock “They call me Mr. One Man Two Sides!” Coming from the small city of Hopewell, Virginia, Young Verse is destined to be a shining stare in the Hip-Hop/Rap genre. Born Latif Rashed II on February 14, 1985, Young Verse always had a knack for writing rhymes as a young child, but began taking music seriously in 1999. Young Verse had the choice of accepting a football scholarship or pursue his music, and he choice the music route. With all the negativity and criticism thrown his way, he used that for motivation and worked even harder to achieve his goal. Highly influenced by artists ranging from A Tribe Called Quest to OutKast, Young Verse worked hard to create his own style and image.
